Jaybird's ears perked up at the sound of another's call. She raised her head from the cool water and turned to look in the direction of the noise as it filled her ears and drained into her head. Her brown eyes landed on what she assumed to be a stallion from the sound of his call. If you stood close enough, you'd have been able to see his loping reflection her dark eyes, seeing what she saw, watching the excitement she felt bring a glimmer to her eye. She smiled cheerfully. Finally, some company! she thought to herself. While she was normally fairly shy, she did like to make new friends. The Misty Fields might have been a better place to look, having more horses there and all, but Nairi Lake seemed to be working just fine.
"Hello, there!" She called out to him in her young, energetic voice as she turned, wading out of the water and on to the grassy shore. Her long, bi-colored tail dripped with water, her white legs turned slightly pink from the water. Her voice was light, with a laugh in it. She was a happy mare, despite her past, and it showed.
Not patient enough to wait for him to reach her (she was just too excited!), she picked up a trot, her lean legs carrying her over the land until she transitioned down to a halt, planning to meet him half-way. There she stood, her coat glistening in the bright sun, her head up, ears pricked and eyes shining.
