“Ah, I’m relieved then. I am not good at making stories." Were Nicolai's words. Carus nodded in agreement, "Nor am I." She said. Now she didn't know if that was a good thing or a bad thing. Surely in some cases it would be bad. His bad joke fell through without any response. To make up for it, he went on. “That said, he certainly won’t forget me anytime soon.”
It was odd thinking that though they kept the peace, Nicolai hoped his attacker remembered him.
“I guess I’ll find out.” He commented about the females. Carus wondered if that meant that he would be trolling after the females of the Order of the Guardians. Surely Dusan would disapprove, and the girls might get a bit creeped out. No. Surely Nicolai wouldn't act so shady. As he turned the tables on her, asking about her interests, Carus noted that he never stopped grinning. Not once. “I might be.” He responded to her false horror.
He seemed to be intrigued by what she had to say. “You seem to know what you want.” He said and Carus shrugged, "Don't you?" She asked. Carus thought out a lot of things, so to her it was second nature to know what she wanted. Still, she knew that there was no cookie cutter version of her perfect mate, so things were open for change.
Carus let her eyes drift, looking back over her shoulder to check for any activity. Not a single canine in site. Where were her pups? She hated no knowing where they were, but she knew she would find them eventually. They couldn't get into much trouble around here, and besides, they were probably playing with Sunwise's pups.
Carus stared at his battered eyes before asking permission to give it a good gentle wash. AT first Nicolai seemed clueless. When he realized, “Uh, no. No.” He gave her permission. “I’d be thankful, actually.” He quipped. Carus nodded and stood up to get closer to him. Her paws straddled his as she came up close to him. Maybe it was closer than she should be but it seemed uncomfortable to stand there with her neck stretched out to lick his nasty wound clean.
This thick fur on his chest mingled with her own sending an involuntary shiver through her body. Her warm breath rebounded off his cheek and back into her own face. Lips parted and her salmon colored tongue snaked out. She hesitantly moved it along his wound. She started at his cheek, cleaning the blood his couldn't reach on his own. The iron taste him her tongue in an unpleasant explosion. She worked in a maintained rhythm. She pulled back when she had cleaned the blood around around the eye. "This may sting." She warned before leaning back toward him to clean the gash itself.
It took effort and a decent amount of time, but with her patience she managed to clean the wound. It looked a lot better without blood being crusted all over his face.
"There. How does that feel?" She asked as she took a few steps back.
