The early morning air was cool and crisp; the sun had only just begun to rise, and the soft shadows it cast on the concrete were lazy and soft. A smattering of birds were voicing their worries to those who were up early enough to hear them; to those who were listening, the sound was peaceful and somewhat cheery.
The sidewalk, whose hard concrete had not yet had the chance to warm up enough to scald paws, wound its way through the forgotten streets, cracked and disheveled from years of wear and tear. Stray weeds were poking bravely through these cracks, giving the sidewalk a wild appearance.
One dog, a male border collie, was making his way along this broken down path, his steps smooth and quick. His pelt was the epitome of contrast; dark, inky fur splashed against bright white. His tail swayed with his gait; not a true wag, per se, but moving none the less.
He paused in his trek. His muzzle rose to the light breeze, nostrils aquiver. As his brain registered the scent, his belly gave a loud rumble, and, not for the first time, Mojo was glad he was alone.

BASICS[/color]
Despite all of this, though, to those few who actually get passed her gruff exterior, she is a fierce and loyal friend. She doesn't dole out respect very often, and certainly not at all unless she feels you deserve it.
